Indian Products Showcased at Singapore Air Show as Both Nations Expand Military Ties

The ongoing Singapore Air Show has emerged as a significant platform for India’s indigenous defence and aerospace products as several nations elicited interest in them. While a high-level delegation comprising of Defence Ministry officials and the IAF chief are also at the show, an Indian pavilion with defence and aviation products is also attracting attention. Raytheon Delivers First Radar for India's P-8I

US defence electronics major Raytheon has announced that it has supplied the first international version of APY-10 maritime surveillance radar for India's order for eight Boeing P-8I patrol aircraft being built for the Indian navy. Raytheon announced at the ongoing Singapore Air Show that the system had been delivered to Boeing for installation on the P-8I for Indian Navy, which ordered for he eight aircraft in January 2009 for $2.1 billion. India to Supply Coastal Radars, Dornier Plane to Seychelles

Amid China's bid to step up ties with Seychelles, India has signed three pacts with the Indian Ocean archipelago nation to combat piracy by supplying coastal surveillance radar systems and Dornier aircraft. External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and his Seychelles counterpart Jean-Paul Adam held wide-ranging discussions on international, regional and bilateral issues and took stock of the current status of the ties between the countries, including security cooperation. India, Saudi Arabia Agree to Set Up Panel for Defence Cooperation

To provide a boost to their fledgling defence ties, India and Saudi Arabia have agreed to set up a joint committee that will look at ways to enhance bilateral cooperation. This was agreed to by Saudi Defence Minister Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz and Indian Defence Minister AK Antony during the latter's two-day visit to Riyadh Monday and Tuesday. The committee will work out the contours of the bilateral relationship in the defence sphere. India's Coastal Radar Chain By This Year-End

India's post-Mumbai 26/11 terror strike plans to have a chain of radar stations as part of its coastal security apparatus will be ready along the peninsular mainland by the end of 2012 and those in the island territories by 2013, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Director General Vice Admiral MP Muralidharan has said. "We have a chain of radar stations that have been set up for the entire coastal security network which will be ready at the end of this year along the mainland and early next year it will be ready in our island territories,".
