Rajshree Class Inshore Patrol Vessel Commissioned Into Indian Coast Guard

India has inducted its first of the Rajshree class of eight Inshore Patrol Vessels (IPVs) into the Coast Guard. The vessel, being built by Kolkata-based Garden Reach shipbuilders and Engineers, was commissioned into the maritime security force by Indian Coast Guard Director General Vice Admiral MP Muralidharan. Coast Guard Commander (East) Inspector General SP Sharma was present on the occasion. "The 50-metre long indigenous IPV displaces 300 tones and can achieve a maximum speed of 34 knots, with an endurance of 1500 nautical miles at economical speed of 16 knots," Coast Guard officials said. Boeing Spreads Its Wings as It Bags IAF Chopper Deal and Expects Repeat Orders on C-17 and P8-I Aircraft

The US aerospace major Boeing has indicated its defence business with India is all set to expand in the coming years and confirmed that the Apache AH-64D helicopter is the last contender in the Indian Air Force (IAF) competition for 22 attack helicopters. During the ongoing Singapore Air Show, Boeing also stated that the IAF also plans to acquire six more C-17 heavy lift transport aircraft besides the ten aircraft it has already contracted for. Indian Army Chief General V K Singh Visit to Israel

With India and Israel working together on several military projects, Army Chief General V K Singh is scheduled to be in Tel Aviv on a three-day visit starting next month. Gen Singh is scheduled to visit Israel from March 16 to 18 where he will hold talks with the top military and political leadership, Army sources told Defencenow.com here. The Army Chief is also expected to discuss the future joint development defence programmes with his Israeli counterparts.
