India and Us to Hold Various Military Drills in 2012 Beginning With ‘Yudh Abhyas’

India and US are all set to launch their combat exercise named ‘Yudh Abhyas’ in India and enhance their interoperability through these series of wargames in March this year. India. C-130j on Republic Day Parade Flypast for the First Time

Indian Air Force's (IAF) latest acquisition, the Lockheed Martin C-130J transport plane, will be part of the fly past over Rajpath for the first time ever during this year's Republic Day parade in New Delhi on January 26. Three C-130Js will be part of the IAF's 29 aircraft, including air superiority Sukhoi 30-MKI and MiG29 combat plane fly past, a senior IAF officer said here. All six of the C-130J that India bought from US has been delivered to the IAF in 2011. As in the previous year, the highlight of the flypast will be the vertical Charlie manoeuvre by a lone Sukhoi aircraft that would mark the culmination of the flypast. Read More...

First of Five Inshore Patrol Vessel Commissioned Into Coast Guard

The Indian Coast Guard Ship Rani Abbakka, the first of a series of five Inshore Patrol Vessel (IPV) built at Hindustan Shipyard Limited, the latest of the four defence public sector shipbuilders, was commissioned at Visakhapatnam by Minister of State for Defence Dr. MM Pallam Raju. Indian Navy's Eastern Naval Command Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, Indian Coast Guard Director General Vice Admiral MP Muralidharan, and other senior dignitaries of the central and Andhra Pradesh government were present on the occasion. Sino-Indian Military Ties Improve as a Crucial Pact on the Border Issue Gets Signed

With the objective of maintaining all-round cooperation and strategic trust, India and China seem to be heading for an amicable solution to the highly contentious border issue. Both nations have signed a pact to establish a “Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs” which aims to resolve border disputes and strengthen military cooperation. Indian Army Shows Urgency in SR-SAM Acquisition by Issuing a Global Tender

The Indian Army’s persistence on the early acquisition of Short Range Surface -to-Air Missile systems (SR-SAM) has resulted in a global tender to the tune of $ 1.5 billion. While a similar Indo-French SR-SAM project called ‘Maitri’ has been under consideration, the Indian Army‘s global tender for SR-SAM is expected to put the ‘Maitri’ project on the back-burner due to an urgent SR-SAM requirement by the Indian Army.
