President Reviews Indian Navy’s Fleet as 80 New Warships Get Ready to be Inducted in Two Years

During the recently held President’s Fleet Review in Mumbai where Indian Navy’s strength was reviewed, it was indicated that Indian Navy will add over 80 new warships in its fleet in the next two years. IAF Chief Flies Sukhoi; Says It's Safe

Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne Wednesday flew on a Su-30MKI front line air superiority combat jet from the Lohegaon air base near Pune, in a bid to instill confidence in the air warriors on the safety of the Su-30MKI planes that had recently crashed near Pune on December 13. Auditors Slam Indian Army's Poor Artillery Guns Buying Record

The miserable record of the Indian Army in procuring artillery guns over the last 25 years, when not a single weapon was purchased to replace aging World War-II vintage and 1970s vintage guns for its artillery regiments has come in for a severe criticism at the hands of India's government auditors. Technical Snag Puts Off Prithvi-II Missile Tests

India's plan to carry out a twin test of its nuclear-capable Prithvi-2 missile today from its base on the Odisha coast on the eastern seaboard came to a naught due to a technical snag, officials said here. "The Prithvi tests scheduled for December 21 has been postponed due to a technical snag," Defence Research and Development Organisation's spokesperson Ravi Gupta said. Indian Defence Spending Amounts to Over $ 98.35 Billion in the Past Decade

Indian Defence Minister A.K.Antony has announced in the Parliament that India has spent over $ 98.35 billion on procurement of defence equipment in the last ten years. Defence Minister stated that this defence expenditure consists of equipment for the Indian Armed Forces from local and foreign firms. This defence expenditure was incurred during 2001-02 till 2010-11. Defence Minister indicated that the upgradation of the Indian Armed Forces has been the key force behind the defence expenditure.
