Medium Range Maritime Surveillance Aircrafts for the Navy

Swedish Saab, American Boeing, European EADS and Canadian Bombardier are in the race to supply medium range maritime surveillance aircrafts to the Indian Navy for its USD 1.5 billion contract for six such reconnaissance planes. The Navy has received the response to the RFP from these four players and is currently carrying out the technical evaluation of the proposals made by these companies, defence ministry sources told Defencenow.com the RFP was issued earlier this year and the four companies had submitted their responses in the November. DRDO Delivers India’s First Remotely Operated Vehicle (Rov) ‘Daksh’ to the Indian Army

Indian Army has received the first batch of indigenously designed and developed Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) 'Daksh’ which will enable the handling and clearing of improvised explosives devices (IEDs) and other hazardous objects. The ‘Daksh’ ROV or robot is developed by Research and Development Establishment (Engineers), R&DE (E), part of state-run DRDO. Russia Ready to Deliver NERPA Nuclear Submarine and INS TEG Warship to Indian Navy

The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s recent visit to Russia has led to the finaliztion of various deals that were crucial for the Indian Armed forces, especially the Indian Navy. The Head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Mikhail Dmitriyev has announced that Russia will lease its Nerpa nuclear submarine to India by the end of the year. In addition, Indian and Russia also signed an agreement on the supply of kits to assemble 42 Su-30MKI Flanker multirole fighters for the Indian Air Force (IAF). Indian Prime Minister to Ink the Deal for Acquiring 42 Upgraded Sukhoi’s During Russian Visit

India has finalized its decision to acquire 42 upgraded Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft from Russia to replace its ageing fleet of aircraft in the armed forces. The deal for the purchase of 42 upgraded Sukhoi's will be inked during the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Russia this week. The negotiations have stretched for a year since India wanted certain fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) and stealth features to be included. Hal Bags Orders to the Tune of $ 18.61 Billion in the Current Year

The state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has revealed that its order-book position in the current financial year has been very healthy since around $ 18.61 billion worth of orders have already been received. In its annual report, HAL indicated that the orders include Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and Hawk advanced jet trainers (AJTs) as well as other aircraft and aerospace products. In its annual report, HAL’s healthy order-book consists of deals for new aircraft and choppers including Sukhoi-30 MKI, Hawk, Dornier, LCA, Intermediate Jet Trainer (IJT), Advance Light Helicopter (ALH) and Chetak helicopters.
