CVRDE to Develop Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicle for Indian Army

IAF to Buy Avian Radars to Prevent Bird-Hit Accidents

Concerned over bird-hits grounding its combat and transport fleet, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to buy 41 Avian radars to locate, track and monitor bird activity around airfields to help prevent accidents that adversely impact operational readiness. With many of its air bases now located within cities and towns such as Agra, Bareilly, Gwalior, Srinagar, Chandigarh and Tezpur, the IAF will soon induct these sophisticated radars to bring down bird-hits that are the causes for nine out of 100 air crashes recorded since 1970. Indian Navy Assumes Responsibility for Security of Island Nations in Indian Ocean Region

In a move that reasserted India’s importance as being a stabilizing force in the Indian Ocean Region, Defence Minister A.K.Antony has stated that Indian Navy has been mandated to be a net security provider to island nations in the Indian Ocean Region. The Defence Minister added that since major international shipping lanes are located along India’s island territories, it makes it incumbent on India to ensure security and stability in the region. India Conducts First-Ever Army Drill with France as Indian Army Increases Exercises with Foreign Armies

The first-ever joint Army exercise between India and France has started in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand where both the nations will be able to enhance combat skills and interoperability between the armies. India to buy 16 more Hawks for Surya Kiran team

India is preparing to place a Rs.1,940-crore order for 16 new Hawk Advanced Jet Trainers (AJT) for its Surya Kiran aerobatics team with the Indian Air Force (IAF) declaring its intention to revive it with the BAE Systems planes. According to Indian Defence Ministry and BAE Systems sources, the orders are expected anytime soon so that the aircraft is delivered before 2014 ahead of Surya Kiran team's revival. Read More...
