Indian Navy Inducts INS Shakti and Envisages More Landing Craft Utilities and Landing Platform Docks

The Indian Navy has commissioned the fourth fleet tanker INS Shakti into the fleet which has been constructed by Fincantieri Shipyard of Italy. INS Shakti will be a much needed boost for the Indian Navy as it will help them to chart beyond the limits of the Indian Ocean. Boeing Conducts Initial Flight of the First P-81 Reconnaissance Aircraft for Indian Navy

The first P-81 aircraft for the Indian Navy has successfully completed its initial flight in the US as Boeing Company assures India that the P-81 program is progressing well. Indian Navy is to receive eight P-81 long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft from Boeing as part of a contract awarded in January 2009. Boeing Bags $ 469 Million Contract for Maintenance and Upgrades of C-17 Globemaster for India

While the Indian government has already approved the acquisition of ten C-17 Globemaster strategic airlift aircraft in June this year from US, the contract for aircraft maintenance and upgrades between Indian Air Force (IAF) and Boeing has been pegged at $ 469 million. Indigenous Naval LCA NP 1 Undergoes Engine Trials Successfully

India has achieved yet another major achievement as it carried out a successful debut Engine Ground Run of the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) prototype NP1 for the Indian Navy. The naval LCA prototype NP1 is India’s first homemade naval fighter aircraft which will incorporate considerable technology and will be used from an aircraft carrier. The debut Engine Ground Run (EGR) of LCA NP1 aircraft was successfully carried out with the main aim of checking aircraft to engine integration and activation of the various systems. Read More...
