Sikorsky Offers M-70 B Sea Hawk Chopper to the Navy, Plans Production Hub in Hyderabad

The US aerospace major Sikorsky has offered to make the naval variant of the Black Hawk helicopter in India once the Indian Navy decides to buy it for its fleet. The M-70B Sea Hawk will be the naval variant which, according to Boeing, can be co-produced in India with significant transfer of technology and manufacturing capability. Currently, the Indian Navy already has a tender for 16 helicopters with an option of eight more twin-engine, 12.5 tonne category helicopters. Read More...

IAF Grounds Entire Mirage Fleet after the Recent Crash, Orders Inquiry

With a Mirage-2000 fighter plane of the IAF crashing earlier this week in Rajasthan, the IAF has decided to ground the entire fleet of Mirage planes and conduct preliminary checks. This is the second mishap in the gap of 11 days involving the Mirage-2000 fighter raising questions about the credibility of the fighters and security concerns in the force. As for the accident involving the Mirage fighter, it occurred soon after the aircraft took off from an airbase in Gwalior. Singapore Technologies has rejected allegations against bidding for Indian military contract

A day after it was debarred from any business dealings in Indian Defence sector for ten years, Singapore Technologies has rejected allegations that it used bribes in bidding for an Indian military contract and vowed to "vigorously" defend its reputation. Defence Ministry had blacklisted six firms including four foreign companies for their alleged roles in the Indian Ordnance Factory Board scam in 2009. MDL-Pipavav Joint Venture Gets Indian Defence Ministry Nod

With the Indian cabinet approving the new guidelines for joint ventures (JVs) between defence public sector undertakings and private sector on February 9 this year, the defence ministry has given a go-ahead to the Mumbai-based Mazagon Docks Limited (MDL) and Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering Company Limited that was put on hold in September 2011. Indo-Us Wargames Called Yudh-Abhyas 2011-12 Begin In Rajasthan

The Indo-US war exercise called Yudh Abhyas 2011-12 has started in the deserts of Rajasthan and the joint drills will feature troops from both nations engaging each other in a series of counter-terror activities and urban warfare training. While the US Army was represented by troops from 25 Infantry Division, the Indian side consists of troops from Jammu and Kashmir Rifles and Mechanised Infantry. While the US team consisting of 170 members is being led by Colonel Thomas J Roth, Commander of 2nd Engineer Brigade. Read More...
