2 New Centres For Defence Land Records

Against the backdrop of Adarsh Housing Society and Sukna land scams, Defence Ministry officials on Monday came under intense scrutiny from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) which wanted to know the deadline by when records of Defence lands will be streamlined. Officials from Defence Ministry, Army, Navy and Air Force led by Additional Secretary Anuj Kumar Bishnoi told the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that a Defence records preservation centre will start functioning in New Delhi on June 15. Induction Tests of Akash Missiles Conducted

India has successfully carried out induction trials of its indigenously-built surface-to-air tactical Akash air Defence missile. The test was mandatory before this lot of Akash missiles are inducted into the Indian armed forces, officials closely associated with the trials said. The user conducted test was carried out from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur off Odisha coast using a mobile launcher from launch complex-III at 11 a.m. The tests and the induction of the Akash missiles will boost India's air Defence shield and re-validate its operational efficacy. Indian Navy Inducts More Mig-29 K to Be Used From Aircraft Carriers

Defence Minister AK Antony has announced in the Parliament that 15 Russian MiG-29 K fighters have been inducted in the Indian Navy. These MiG-29 K fighters have been inducted for carrier-borne operations and will operate from INS Vikramaditya once it is inducted in December this year. While indicating that 15 MiG-29K have been inducted, Defence Minister added that a contract has been concluded to acquire an additional 29 MiG-29Ks to strengthen the air combat capability of the Indian Navy. Ukraine Inches Closer To Sign the Deal to Sell R-27 Air-To-Air Missiles to India

The Indo-Ukranian Defence ties are expected to get a tremendous boost as Ukraine inches closer towards selling its R-27 air-to-air missiles to India. As reported by the Russian media, the deal for R-27 missiles is in the final phase and is expected to be approved shortly by Ukraine. The IAF’s fighter planes such as MiG-29 and Su-30 MKI will be capable of launching the R-27 missile. While India and Ukraine have been considering the signing of the deal for R-27 missiles. Second Embraer Plane with Indian AEW&C Tested Successfully

The debut test of the second Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) developed by state-run DRDO has been successfully tested on-board the Brazilian Embraer plane at the San Jose dos Campos in Brazil yesterday. The Embraer EMB 145 aircraft is expected to be delivered in June this year to India. Following this delivery, other mission systems will then be integrated on to the aircraft and readied for Mission System flight trials which will commence in November this year.
