BRO to Hire Choppers to Air Lift Machinery for Border Road Works

To help speed up strategic road infrastructure in the borders with China and Pakistan, Indian government has asked the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) under its defence ministry to hire private helicopters to carry equipment it needs to complete the works in inaccessible areas at the earliest. Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju asked the BRO to take up air lift of construction equipment to remote border areas on a priority basis at a meeting of the Border Roads Development Board. Read More...

India Plans to Acquire Two More Advanced Israeli Phalcon AWACS Soon

India is currently envisaging the draft of a contract pertaining to the acquisition of another two advanced Israeli Phalcon AWACS (airborne warning and control systems) to defend itself against cruise missiles and hostile aircraft more efficiently. The two Phalcon AWACS will be to the tune of $ 800 million and will enable India to detect any aerial threat more effectively than ground-based radars. IAF Ready to Induct Mi-17 V5 Helicopters Procured From Russia This Month

The plan to augment the chopper fleet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been achieved as India received the first lot of advanced helicopters Mi-17 V5 from Russia. As a part of the Indo-Russian defence deal worth over $ 1.25 billion signed in 2008, more than 80 Mi-17 V5 helicopters will be procured over a period of next three years. Defence Ministry Announces Procurement of over 300 Su-30 MKI’s and ‘Tejas’ LCA to Strengthen the IAF

The Indian Defence Minister A.K. Anthony has announced that in order to strengthen the combat capability of the Indian Air force (IAF), over 300 Sukhoi-MKI fighters and ‘Tejas’ Light Combat aircraft (LCA) will be procured. The total cost of procurement will amount to roughly $ 14.30 billion and the Su-30 MKI and ‘Tejas’ LCA are already being manufactured by state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Read More...

While India reaches the final stages of decision-making for the $ 10.4 billion MMRCA contract for 126 combat planes, the Eurofighter Typhoon is being hailed with matchless air superiority by the British Royal Air Force (RAF).
