India Ready to Test Barak-2 Missile in the Current Year

The much anticipated test-flight of the Indo-Israeli Barak-2 long range surface-to-air missile (LR-SAM) will take place this year. Currently, the Barak -2 LR-SAM is undergoing simulated tests in Israel. The Barak-2 LR-SAM is being developed and produced for both the Indian and the Israeli militaries and is capable of multiple engagements and providing defence against a host of airborne platforms and munitions from short as well as medium ranges.

Bharat Dynamics Limited Signs Largest Ever Deal With Army for Akash Missiles

The largest ever contract with the Indian Army has been signed by the state-owned Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the ‘Akash’ Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs) which will be to the tune of $  3.1 billion.‘Akash’ SAM has been developed by Defence Research and Development Orgnization (DRDO) and the Indian Army is ordering two regiments of  ‘Akash’ SAM systems which include 2000 missiles, launchers, radars and ground systems.

Boeing Tests Airframe for P-8A Poseidon for Navy, Backs out of Mid-Air Tanker Bid

The Indian Navy’s $2.1 billion acquisition deal for eight P-8I Posiedon to be supplied by the US aerospace giant Boeing is gaining substantial momentum as Boeing has confirmed the structural integrity of the airframe of P-8A Poseidon. The deal was finalised in 2009 and India is the first international customer to acquire eight P-8I long-range maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft, a variant of the P-8A Poseidon.
