President of Tajikistan on a Four-Day Visit to Strengthen Defence Ties with India
The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon will be arriving in India today on a four-day visit to foster greater Defence ties build diplomatic relations. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will hold a range of discussions with the Tajik president including the ‘Connect Central Asia’ policy. President Rahmon has been at the centre of power in Tajikistan for over two decades. Regarding the issues that will be up for discussions between Tajik President and the Indian PM, these will include Indian assistance for upgrading the Ayni base and setting up a military hospital in Tajikistan among other things.

India Carries out All-Plane C-130J Fleet Sortie
In a display of the US Lockheed Martin-made C-130J's 100 per cent serviceability, the Indian Air Force (IAF), which is the latest customer for this all-weather rugged medium lifter, carried out a tactical formation flying of all its six planes in its fleet. The operational readiness sortie for about an hour was carried out by the IAF's 77 'Veiled Vipers' Squadron, which is based at Hindon in Ghaziabad on the outskirts of the national capital, New Delhi. India had bought the six planes in an over $1-billion in 2008 and the planes were delivered to IAF beginning December 2010.

IAF to Buy Avian Radars to Prevent Bird-Hit Accidents
Concerned over bird-hits grounding its combat and transport fleet, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to buy 41 Avian radars to locate, track and monitor bird activity around airfields to help prevent accidents that adversely impact operational readiness. With many of its air bases now located within cities and towns such as Agra, Bareilly, Gwalior, Srinagar, Chandigarh and Tezpur, the IAF will soon induct these sophisticated radars to bring down bird-hits that are the causes for nine out of 100 air crashes recorded since 1970.
