Indian Navy is excited for the P-8I to join its fleet
The second of the eight Boeing P-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft being built for the Indian Navy has completed its initial flight. The P-8I is a derivative of the Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 commercial airplane, and was tested on July 12, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. Boeing had successfully tested the first of the eight aircraft earlier this month. "The programme is on plan and the Indian Navy is excited for the P-8I to join its fleet," said Leland Wight, P-8I programme manager for Boeing.

Boeing P-8I for Indian Navy with Full Systems On Board Flight Tested
A reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare P-8I plane from the US aerospace major Boeing's stable, meant for the Indian Navy and with all relevant military systems on board, has been flight tested by the company from its Seattle air field, it has been announced. This is the first of the eight P-8Is that India had ordered from Boeing in January 2009 for $2.1 billion and is now considering placing a follow-on order for four more such planes. This long-range plane, without its military systems on board but in Indian colours, had taken to flight for the first time in September 2011.

Indian Navy Joins US-Led RIMPAC-2012
surface combatants, six submarines and 200 naval planes are participating called the Rim of the Pacific Exercise or RIMPAC for short. However, the India Navy has only sent its personnel led by a Commodore-rank officer and not any warships to the exercise that is taking place from June 27 to August 7 off Hawaii Island that houses the US Navy's Pacific Command headquarters. The Indian Navy Commodore will indeed be a "fleet component commander" during the exercise, according to the RIMPAC website. The biennial RIMPAC, according to defence experts, is a real warfare exercise involving aircraft carriers, submarines.

Indian Navy’s Western Fleet Receives Stealth Frigate INS Teg
While the Indian Navy awaits the induction of INS Sahayadri next month, a major boost has been given to its Western Fleet with the latest acquisition of INS Teg. It is the new stealth frigate with weapons and sensors for three-dimensional warfare built by Yantar Shipyard, Russia. INS Teg is the first of three Talwar Class follow-on ships ordered by the Indian Navy. INS Teg was built for the Indian navy by Russia has arrived in the port of Mumbai recently after its trials and crew training. As for the ship’s crew, they have been imparted training at naval training institutes in Russia.

Retrofitted INS Vikramaditya to Undergo Sea-Trials This Week in Russia
Russia has announced that it will be subjecting the retrofitted Admiral Gorshkov (INS Vikramaditya) to extensive sea-trials this week in Russia. The aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya is to be handed over to the Indian Navy by December this year and will cost India $ 2.3 billion. The 45,000-tonne INS Vikramaditya has already undergone mooring trials in January this year and is ready for sea runs. According to Russian media reports, INS Vikramaditya will set sail on comprehensive sea trials later this week.
