Defence Ministry to Cancel Order for Tatra Truck

The Defence Ministry will cancel the BEML order, worth over Rs 50 lakh, given to UK-based Tatra Sipox for supplying one truck, in the wake of the CBI probe into the allegations of irregularities in the supply of these vehicles. The order for the truck was placed by BEML in may for the defence research and development organisation. The Ministry is planing to cancel the order worth over Rs 50 lakh placed by BEML with the UK-based Tatra Sipox, sources told PTI here. When asked about the development, Defence Ministry's Department of Defence Production refused to comment on it. BEML’s Contract for Wheeled Guns Suspended Due to Tatra-Sipox’s Involvement

Following the scams and irregularities revolving around the UK-based firm Tatra Sipox, the Indian Defence Mnistry has rejected the proposal by state-run Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) to develop a wheeled artillery gun in collaboration with a Slovakian firm called DMD Group. Probe Against BEML to be Widened

Four months after Defence Minister A K Antony gave sanction for the first CBI probe into BEML, Government has widened the scope of investigations into the bribery charges against the state-owned BEML's suspended CMD V R S Natarajan. The Public Sector Enterprise Board (PSEB) has also initiated the process of finding a new Chairman and Managing Director for the Bangalore-based PSU to replace Natarajan, who was at the helm of affairs for 12 years. Natarajan was suspended last week after the CBI, which is going into several cases, including the allegations of bribery in the Tatra truck deal. Read More...

Parliamentary Committee to Review Performance of Defence Agencies in Bangalore

Following its six day assessment tour in April, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence is once again visiting Bangalore and Mysore to review the working of the Defence installations in the city. The main intention is to assess the level of indigenization and self-reliance that the state-run Defence agencies in the city and ascertain their performance levels. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence is expected to review the performance of state-run agencies such as Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). Defence Ministry suspends BEML Chief

BEML chief VRS Natarajan was on Monday suspended by the Defence ministry on a CBI recommendation to remove him from the post for ensuring fair probe of all charges against him including the Tatra case. The move comes a few days after the Defence ministry issued a show cause notice to the BEML Chief for slapping a defamation notice against Gen V K Singh without its permission.
