HAL Delivers ‘IFF-1410’ System to Navy for P-81 Aircraft, Implements New Procedures for Transparency with Vendors

India’s premier aeronautic laboratory, the state-run Hindustan Aeronauts Limited (HAL) has delivered the first homegrown production unit of Identification of Friend or Foe (IFF-1410) transponder for the Indian Navy’s Boeing P-8I reconnaissance aircraft. Indian Navy is excited for the P-8I to join its fleet

The second of the eight Boeing P-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft being built for the Indian Navy has completed its initial flight. The P-8I is a derivative of the Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 commercial airplane, and was tested on July 12, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. Boeing had successfully tested the first of the eight aircraft earlier this month. "The programme is on plan and the Indian Navy is excited for the P-8I to join its fleet," said Leland Wight, P-8I programme manager for Boeing. Read More...

Raytheon Delivers First Radar for India's P-8I

US defence electronics major Raytheon has announced that it has supplied the first international version of APY-10 maritime surveillance radar for India's order for eight Boeing P-8I patrol aircraft being built for the Indian navy. Raytheon announced at the ongoing Singapore Air Show that the system had been delivered to Boeing for installation on the P-8I for Indian Navy, which ordered for he eight aircraft in January 2009 for $2.1 billion.
