India to Take Up Gorshkov with Prez Putin
Long delays in the handing over of aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov will be taken up in a "big way" during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit next month while India is seriously considering imposing a penalty of around Rs 600 crore over the issue. Putin was supposed to visit on Friday but has postponed his visit to December 24. Russia had informed India at the Defence Minister-level talks earlier this month that it would be able to deliver the much-delayed warship only by the end of next year due to malfunctions in its boilers. "The issue would be taken up in a big way during President Putin's visit and we are also considering the option of imposing liquidity damages up to five per cent.

India Approves $1.6 Billion Orders for Invar, BrahMos Air Version Missiles
Ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit slated for early next month, India's top security panel has approved the purchase of Invar missile for its army's Russian-origin T-90 tanks from Russia and air version of the BrahMos missiles for its air force, both worth over Rs.8000 crore ($1.6 billion). The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), the highest security related decision making body headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, gave its nod to the proposals to buy 10,000 Invar missile and 200 BrahMos air-launched missiles at its meeting, sources said.

CCS Clears Air-Launched Brahmos For IAF, Invars For Army
The Cabinet Committee on Security has cleared proposals worth over Rs 8,000 crore for procuring around 10,000 'Invar' missiles from Russia for the Army's T-90 tanks and over 200 air-launched versions of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles for the IAF. The decision for purchasing these missiles for the two services was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) held under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, sources said here. The IAF proposal worth over Rs 6,000 crore to buy BrahMos missiles for the IAF involves sanctioning of funds for the integration and testing of the BrahMos missile on Russian-origin Su-30MKI of the IAF, they said.

Brahmos Missile Test-Launched Successfully From Indian Navy’s Warship Ins Teg
India has successfully test-fired the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from INS Teg which is the Indian Navy’s latest frigate. The test-firing of BrahMos missile took place yesterday off the coast of Goa and it is the second successful test-firIng from INS Teg since its sea-trials last year. According to BrahMos officials, the 290 km range BrahMos missile performed major manoeuvres at two given points in whIch the mission was to elude detection by enemies' radars and successfully hit the target ship at a distance of 290 kms. The target ship was successfully devastated by the BrahMos missile as planned.

Defence Minister Admits Flaw in Recent Brahmos Test, Delay in Tejas LCA Clearance
Indian Defence PSUs have yet again dampened the spirit of the Indian Armed Forces since the Defence Ministry has indicated that the last test of the Indo-Russian BrahMos missile was not fully successful. Added to this, it has also been revealed that the indigenous Tejas LCA is facing more delays and will not get initial operational clearance (IOC) before 2013. Indian Defence Minister AK Antony has stated in the Parliament that one subsystem failed in the July 29 test of the Indo-Russian BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. While state-run DRDO claimed at the time that the test was successful, Defence Minister has officially admitted the failure of one unknown system.
