Embraer Jet-Mounted AEW&C To be Inducted in April 2014

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will induct the first of the three indigenous airborne early warning system mounted on Brazilian Embraer jet after trials in April 2014, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal Norman Anil Kumar Browne has said in Bangalore. "We will start flying the indigenous AEW&C soon after its integration, extensive flight trials ahead of induction and operationalisation in April 2014," Browne said at a function to mark the formal handing over the Embraer Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) System aircraft to Centre for Airborne System (CABS), a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) laboratory. IAF Chief N.A.K. Browne Visits Brazil As India Prepares For Integration of AEW&C System into Embraer Jets for IAF

The Indian Air Force Chief N.A.K. Browne has left for a bilateral visit to Brazil where he will be inspecting the production of Embraer planes which will be fitted with India’s indigenous airborne early warning system (AEW&C). The IAF Chief N.A.K Browne will call on Brazilian Defence Minister Celso Amorin, apart from his counterpart Air Lieutenant Brigadier Juniti Saito and Brazilian Army commander General Enzo Martins Peri to discuss bilateral issues of defence cooperation. DRDO Launches 'AWACS-INDIA' Project to Hike Air Warfare Capabilities

With the growing might of its neighbors in terms of force-multipliers and futuristic warfare techniques, India has decided launch a comprehensive Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) programme for the armed forces. The state-run DRDO is initiating ‘AWACS-India’, a project which will entail development of two AWACS airplanes followed by four more later. Second Embraer Plane with Indian AEW&C Tested Successfully

The debut test of the second Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) developed by state-run DRDO has been successfully tested on-board the Brazilian Embraer plane at the San Jose dos Campos in Brazil yesterday. The Embraer EMB 145 aircraft is expected to be delivered in June this year to India. Following this delivery, other mission systems will then be integrated on to the aircraft and readied for Mission System flight trials which will commence in November this year. The indigenous defence capabilities of India are on the rise as the capabilities of state-run Defence research and Development Organization (DRDO) get showcased with the trial of the Pinaka weapon system and the maiden flight of indigenous Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system.
