Defence Ministry Begins Calculations to Confirm the Lowest Bidder for $10.4 Billion MMRCA Deal

The Indian Defence Ministry has opened the commercial bids of the two contenders, namely the European consortium Eurofighter and the French Dassault, in the run-up for the $ 10.4 billion MMRCA deal for the Indian Air Force (IAF). While the representatives of both the contenders were present, India has not revealed which vendor quoted less than the other. India Contemplates Anti-Satellite Vehicle Integration with Agni-III Ballistic Missile

India’s varied missile capabilities are catching up to be at par with those of the US and China, as talks revolve around integrating the Agni-III ballistic missile with a satellite kill vehicle. According to DRDO Chief V K Saraswat, India is considering the feasibility of developing an anti-satellite missile which will lend a superior edge to India’s missile power. France Offers Help in Kaveri Engine and Co-Development of Short-Range Missile with India

India and France are on the road to greater defence ties as French Foreign Affairs Minister Alain Juppe visited India and held delegation-level talks with his Indian counterpart S.M.Krishna in New Delhi recently. While France discussed the issue of civil nuclear safety having been awarded a multi-billion nuclear power plant contract, both sides also discussed various military contracts as well as co-development of new defence products. IAF Chief Expresses Need for Core Technology like Indigenous Aircraft Engine and AESA Radars

The Indian Air Chief Marshal N.A.K.Browne has urged the state-run Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to develop an indigenous military aircraft engine at the earliest. While the ‘Kaveri’ engine development programme has not been fruitful yet, India desperately needs a powerful aircraft engine soon to enhance its military capabilities. MMRCA Winner to be announced by November as Defence Ministry Approves MMRCA Offset Proposals

The Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief N.A.K Browne has announced that the winner of the $ 10.4 billion tender for 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) will be revealed by November this year. As for the Defence Ministry, it has approved the offset proposals for the MMRCA deal and paved the way for opening the commercial bids in ten day’s time. The Eurofighter Typhoon from EADS and Rafale from Dassault are the two contenders for MMRCA deal. Read More...
