India to Continue Extending Training Facilities to Singapore Air Force
India will continue to extend facilities to Singapore to continue training of its air force pilots at a facility in Kalaikunda air base in West Bengal. An agreement to extend the arrangement for another five years was signed by India and Singapore during the three-day visit of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to India. The deal was inked by Indian Defence Secretary Shashi Kant Sharma and Singapore Permanent Secretary for Defence Chiang Chie Foo after Lee held talks with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh.
Eurofighter Better Than Rafale, Willing To Cut Price: UK Minister to India
A week after India rejected the four-nation European consortium from the bid for 126 fighter aircraft deal, Britain today told the Government that its combat aircraft Eurofighter was better than the selected one - Rafale and it was even considering to reduce the price of the aircraft. UK's Minister for International Security Strategy Gerald Howarth took up the issue of India's decision to select the French Rafale aircraft during delegation-level meeting with Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju, sources said.
UK Defence Trade Mission in India Exploring Business Opportunities
A top defence trade mission from the United Kingdom is in India beginning February 6 exploring business opportunities for collaboration with both Indian private and public sector companies in the defence and security sector. Organised by the United Kingdom’s Trade and Investment Defence and Security Organisation (UKTI DSO) in co-operation with the UK trade association Aerospace Defence Security (ADS), the trade mission of British defence companies are here to meet key decision makers and potential partners in the Indian defence sector in New Delhi.
