Maiden Test of India’s 'Prahaar' Short-Range Missile Successful

The maiden test-flight of India’s new, quick-reaction, short-range, tactical, surface-to-surface missile called ‘Prahaar’ has been successfully carried out from the Integrated Test Range in Balasore district in Orissa. India Successfully Test Fires Nuclear-Capable Prithvi-II Missile

India’s missile technology has achieved yet another milestone with the successful test-firing of the indigenous nuclear-capable Prithvi-II ballistic missile. As part of the Indian Army’s user trial, Prithvi-II missile was flown from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Orissa. The trials were witnessed by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Chief V K Saraswat, Programme Director AD V.L.N Rao along with several Indian Army officials.

IAF Beefs up Network-Centric Operations, Installs New Radars along Gujarat

In order to step up its network-centric operations and strengthen air defence in western India, Indian Air Force (IAF) will be inducting the indigenous Medium Power Radar (MPR) called ‘Arudhra’ at Naliya in Gujarat. The Gujarat coastline has important installations and assets and the new radar will help in extending their security. The induction will take place in the background of the South Western Air Command’s Commanders’ Conference in Gujarat. 

DRDO Successfully Test-Fires Astra Air-To-Air Missile

India has successfully test-fired the Astra air-to-air guided missile from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in the eastern state of Orissa. The Astra beyond-visual-range missile will be used to intercept and destroy enemy aircraft at supersonic speeds with a head-on range of 80 kilometres.

Indian Army and Air Force Conduct Joint Exercise in Rajasthan

An inter-services exercise is currently underway in the deserts of Rajasthan involving the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force (IAF). The six-day joint exercise called ‘Vijayee Bhava’ involves personnel from Indian Army and IAF who will carry out various maneuvers involving tanks, helicopters and other equipment. The idea is to validate the transformational concepts that have been developed to make the Indian Armed Forces more agile and modern in its operations.
