Maini Group To Unveil Expansion Plan At Aero India

The Maini Group, a key Indian defence company, has announced that it would be sharing details regarding its expansion plans at the Aero India 2013 to be held at Yelahanka air base in Bangalore from February 6 to 10. The group has acquired industrial land in preparation for its expansion of plant facilities and is concentrating on long-term aerospace and defence strategic plans spanning the next two decades. For this purpose, it is currently in talks with global and domestic aerospace leaders in order to explore the right opportunities, the company said here. India to Gift Dornier Plane to Seychelles

India will soon gift a Dornier maritime patrol plane to Seychelles, an Indian Ocean island nation that enjoys close ties with the South Asian giant, to make it capable of carrying out surveillance in its waters against pirates and maritime terror groups. The Do-228 plane, built by the Defence Public Sector Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), will be presented to Seychelles President James Michel on January 31 by Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony. Last February, India and Seychelles had signed an agreement for two HAL-built Dorniers and India promised to deliver the planes before 2014. HAL to be Lead Integrator in MMRCA Deal

For the production of 108 M-MRCAs in the country, Defence Ministry has decided to remain firm on having Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) as the lead integrator for the project rejecting French firm Dassault Aviation's plea to. The ministry's stand in this regard has come after French firm Dassault, which has bagged the IAF deal for supplying 126 MMRCA, asked it to define the role of HAL in the project. As per the tender, first 18 of the 126 aircraft are to be supplied by Rafale from its facilities and the rest 108 are to be license produced and integrated by the HAL at its facilities here. India, Russia Ink Key Defence Pacts

India and Russia have inked defence contracts worth $2.9 billion during the summit meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Vladimir Putin. The two key deals signed were the $1.6-billion worth 42 Su-30MKI combat aircraft that India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will produce at its facility under licence from Russia Rosoboronexport and Sukhoi Corporation and the $1.3-billion worth 71 Mi-17V5 medium lift helicopters, of which 59 will go to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the rest 12 to India's paramilitary forces involved in internal security duties. India, Russia to Sign Key Defence Deals worth $4 Billion

India and Russia are preparing to sign three key defence deals worth $4 billion when Russian President Vladimir Putin comes to New Delhi for a summit meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on December 24. Among the deals planned for inking including the final contract for licenced production of 42 Su-30MKI planes by Indian government-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, purchase of 71 Mi-17V5 medium lift helicopters and 970 AL-31 aero-engines for the Sukhoi combat aircraft. The likely deals were discussed and finalised at the Indian Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Manmohan Singh with participation from Defence Minister AK Antony. Read More...
