Homegrown Version of Bofors Artillery to Be Tested Today

The Indian Army’s artillery modernization will gain some mileage as India’s first indigenously built artillery gun is subjected to trials today. The first user-trials of the artillery gun manufactured by state-run Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) are taking place at Pokhran in Rajasthan. Following the purchase of the Bofors artillery two and a half decades ago, India has finally succeeded in creating its own homegrown version of the artillery gun at the Field Firing Range of Pokhran, Rajasthan. The State-run OFB is manufacturing the gun based on the Bofors design which was transferred in 1986 and was unused due to the Swedish gun scam. Read More...

Ordnance Factory to Provide Homegrown Artillery Shells for Heavy Guns like Bofors

After a series of failed attempts at producing critical components for artillery shells, state-run Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) has decided to take on the responsibility to produce it indigenously. OFB officials have stated that the Bi-Modular Charge Systems (BMCS) required for firing artillery shells for heavy guns like Bofors will be indigenously developed by OFB Nalanda in Bihar.
