PC-7 Basic Trainer Planes from Swiss Firm Pilatus

The Cabinet Committee on Security meeting today did not clear IAF proposal for buying 75 PC-7 basic trainer planes for training of IAF rookie pilots from Swiss firm Pilatus, though it was part of the agenda for the meeting. The approval for the basic trainer deal with Pilatus, selected through a long process ending last year, will be given in subsequent meetings of the CCS, sources said. The Pilatus deal is expected to be over $600 million for the 75 planes that are required by the IAF urgently, as 114 of its piston-engine HPT-32 basic trainers remain grounded since mid-2009. Defence Ministry Assures Delivery of Additional Hawk Trainers from 2013

The Indian Defence Ministry has announced that the Indian Armed Forces will receive 57 Hawk Advanced Jet Trainers (AJT) beginning from the year 2013 and all the trainers will be delivered by 2016. Swiss Aircraft Pilatus PC-7 Emerges as Lowest Bidder for IAF Trainer Aircraft

The hunt for the basic trainer aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF) may have ended as the Pilatus PC-7 Turbo aircraft offered by the Swiss firm Pilatus Aircraft Limited has been identified as the lowest bidder in the tender offered by India.
