Agni-IV Missile Likely To Be Test-Fired Today If DRDO Rectifies Snags

The second developmental trial of the Indian homegrown nuclear missile Agni-IV has been planned for today after its postponement yesterday. The trial was unable to be performed yesterday following heavy rains and certain technical snags in the system. Apparently, India was to test-fire the Agni-IV missile a day after Pakistan successfully test-fired its ‘Babur’ missile earlier this week. The test on Agni-IV nuclear capable missile was cancelled since the missile system developed technical shortcomings during last minute checkup after the range synchronization, according to media reports. Medium Range Agni-II Nuclear Missile Successfully Tested By Strategic Forces Command

India has successfully test-fired its medium range nuclear capable Agni-II missile with a strike range of 2000 km as part of a user trial by the Army from the Wheeler Island off Odisha coast. This is the third successful training launch of the Agni-II missile and was conducted by Strategic Forces Command (SFC). After the 2009 debacle when the missile failed to get launched twice, the current tests will help cement DRDO’s design capabilities as well as the credibility of Indian missiles.
