Defence Minister Reviews Security Preparedness, Hikes Deployment in the Western Front

While India has been busy building infrastructure and equipping its eastern front bases, a renewed focus on the western front has also been initiated following a security review by Defence Ministry AK Antony. India has created new bases for its advanced fighter jets as well as sensor units along the Pakistan border on the west. A visit by the Defence Minister to Jammu and Kashmir this week to review the operational situation along the Line of Control (LoC) is also on the cards. Indian Army to Procure GPS Navigational Aid for Its Choppers

In order to avoid future mishaps in various army operations, India has decided to procure modern navigational equipment for its choppers. Exercising exclusive rights and financial powers, the Northern Army Commander has issued a tender to procure 80 GPS advanced navigation systems for the Cheetah and Chetak helicopters. The need for advanced navigational systems on helicopters has become imperative to avoid the repetition of stray incidents that have occurred in the past by the Indian Army’s chopper pilots.
