State-Run Mazagon Docks Forms JV with Pipavav and L&T for Warships and Submarines

As part of the Indian government’s policy to fast-track the production of naval assets, state-run Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) has entered into two separate joint ventures with private sector giants Larsen & Toubro and Pipavan Defence and Offshore Engineering. The JVs will enable the timely construction of submarines and warships in the country and enable self-sufficiency. DCNS France Opens New Facility for Scorpene Project, Seeks More JVS to Make Components Indigenously

The French shipbuilding major DCNS has opened a dedicated facility in Hyderabad in partnership with the local SEC Industries for making critical components for the Scorpene submarines. Besides, DCNS has also revealed that it is scouting for more Indian partners for joint ventures for manufacturing components for the roughly $ 4 billion Scorpene submarine project being developed with the DCNS technology. Indian Navy to Grow into 150-Ship, 500-Aircraft Force by 2027

India's Navy will look like a "brand new" force by 2027 with a combatants level of 150-odd warships and another 500-odd aircraft fleet, even as it is also preparing to induct 49 new warships and submarines in the next few years that are on order with both Indian and foreign shipyards. This was revealed by Indian Navy chief Admiral Nirmal Verma to coincide with the Navy Day celebrated on December 4. Second Shivalik-Class Warship ‘INS Satpura’ to be Commissioned Next Month

The Indian Defence Ministry has announced that India's second second Shivalik class indigenous stealth frigate, INS Satpura, will be commissioned on 20th August this year in Mumbai. The Shivalik class frigates are conceived and designed by the Indian Naval team and will be frontline frigates of the Indian Navy in the future. INS Satpura will considerably heighten Indian Navy’s strike capabilities due to versatile control systems with signature management and radar cross-section reduction features and missile capabilities. Indian Navy receives new Warship & Fast Attack Craft to enhance Coastal Security

With the intention of prioritizing maritime security and boosting India’s capabilities in terms of coastal surveillance, a new stealth frigate called INS Satpura and a fast attack craft (FAC) called INS Koswari have been delivered to the Indian Navy. The INS Satpura warship has been delivered by state-run Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) whilst the FAC INS Koswari by the state-run Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE). Read More...
