Indian Defence Offset Contracts to Touch $ 10 Billion Mark Soon

The Minister of State for Defence Dr. M Pallam Raju has stated that the scope and potential of the Indian defence industry has significantly increased due to reforms in the Defence Offset Policy. HAL in Talks with BAE Systems for Extending India’s Role in Manufacturing Hawk AJT

Following the shutdown of a UK production line for the Hawk advanced jet trainer (AJT), the state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is holding talks with BAE Systems of UK for moving a chunk of that Hawk production line to India. The race for the $ 10.4 billion Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) for the Indian Air Force (IAF) is close to the finishing line as Indian Defence Ministry invites European consortium Eurofighter and French firm Dassault to open their commercial bids on November 4. France Offers Help in Kaveri Engine and Co-Development of Short-Range Missile with India

India and France are on the road to greater defence ties as French Foreign Affairs Minister Alain Juppe visited India and held delegation-level talks with his Indian counterpart S.M.Krishna in New Delhi recently. While France discussed the issue of civil nuclear safety having been awarded a multi-billion nuclear power plant contract, both sides also discussed various military contracts as well as co-development of new defence products. MMRCA Winner to be announced by November as Defence Ministry Approves MMRCA Offset Proposals

The Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief N.A.K Browne has announced that the winner of the $ 10.4 billion tender for 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) will be revealed by November this year. As for the Defence Ministry, it has approved the offset proposals for the MMRCA deal and paved the way for opening the commercial bids in ten day’s time.
