India is offered to become a Partner in Creating Naval Variant of Typhoon if EADS Wins MMRCA Deal
As the race for the $ 10.4 billion Medium Multi-role combat Aircraft (MMRCA) deal for the Indian Air Force (IAF) reaches its final stage, the last two contenders are leaving no stone unturned to influence and impress India to tilt the mega deal in their favor. In a recent development, BAE Systems as part of the European consortium EADS has offered India a choice to pioneer a project for a naval version of the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.

India Inks the $ 2.4 Billion Mirage Upgrade Deal with Dassault and Thales of France
India has finally signed the $ 2.4 billion contract with two French defence firms Thales and Dassault for upgrading 51 Mirage combat jets of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The Cabinet Committee on Security had given the deal a nod in mid-July and the commercial contract between the French firms and Indian government has finally been inked.As per the French firms, the Mirage-2000 aircraft upgrade will further enhance the technical-operational capabilities of the jets.

MMRCA Contract to get Bigger as India may opt for 63 more Jets besides the Initial 126 Jets
The biggest defence deal in the world, namely the MMRCA contract wherein Indian Air Force (IAF) plans to acquire 126 combat jets for $ 10.4 billion, is all set to grow bigger. According to defence officials, India is likely to go for another 63 combat jets after the first 126 jets are acquired. The act of additional acquisition in the MMRCA project will occur if the timeline for other crucial fighter projects for the IAF are not met.
