CCEA to Discuss 10 Per Cent HAL Disinvestment
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs will today consider a proposal for disinvestment of 10 per cent of government equity in the country's only state-owned aerospace firm Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The government expects to raise at least Rs 2500 crore by divesting 10 per cent from the company having 100 per cent share-holding in it, sources said. The disinvestment proposal has been mooted before the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs amid government's plans to modernise the company for which Rs 20,000 crore would be required over next five years.

HAL Signs Pact with Russia to Make Multi-Role Transport Aircraft
The state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed a contract with Russian firm United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) to manufacture 205 multi-role transport aircraft (MTA) meant primarily for the Indian and Russian air forces. The MTA will be in the 15-20 tonne class and the project is estimated to cost $ 600 million. Besides HAL and UAC, another Russian firm - Multirole Transport Aircraft Ltd (MTAL) - has been involved as a third partner in the joint venture.

Six LCA Tejas Squadrons for IAF by 2022
Indian Air Force (IAF) will get six squadrons of India's indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas by 2022. "It is planned to induct six LCA squadrons by the end of 13th Plan (2017-2022)," the parliament has been informed. However, the government admitted that there has been a delay in the manufacturing of the LCA. Tejas is a design and development project and the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) is the nodal organization for the development of the LCA. The government said Tejas achieved the Initial Operational Clearance-1 on January 10, 2011. "Presently, LCA development activities leading to final operational clearance are in progress," it said.

Defence Minister A.K.Antony Visits Russia to Co-Chair Military Meet and Assess Indo-Russian Defence Projects
The Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony has embarked on a three day visit to Russia where various ongoing and future Indo-Russian defence projects will be discussed. Defence minister A.K.Antony will also co-chair the 11th meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC) with his Russian counterpart Anatoly E Serdyukov.

India’s SU-30 MKI to be upgraded to Super Sukhoi By Russia
Irkut Corporation of Russia has indicated that the Indian Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft squadron is to be upgraded into a “Super Sukhoi” by incorporating certain fifth generation aircraft features. The Su-30 MKI upgrade was announced at the MAKS 2011 airshow in Russia by the President and Chairman of the Board of Irkut Corporation of Russia and India and Russia will finalize the exact nature of the upgrade.
