India to Test ‘Nirbhay Cruise Missile, Develop Agni-V Variant with Mutliple Warhead Capabilities

Following the successful launch of the Agni-V missile, the state-run DRDO is gearing up for the first flight of the homegrown subsonic cruise missile Nirbhay. According to DRDO officials, the first flight of Nirbhay cruise missile will take place this year itself from the Integrated Test Range at Balasore in Odisha. Besides, DRDO is also working on equipping the recently tested Agni-V missile with multiple warheads. DRDO Lab Develops Detonator for Nuclear Capable Agni-V Missile As It Gets Ready For Launch

With the DRDO lab Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) having developed the detonator which triggers the nuclear explosion and aids the successful take off of the 5,000 kilometer range Agni-V nuclear missile, state-run DRDO has confirmed that it has reached the final phase of the test. The strategic intermediate-range ballistic missile Agni-V is expected to be launched next month and inducted by 2014 into the armed forces.
