Army to Carry Out Nag, NAMICA Trials

The Army will carry out the last round of trials of the anti-tank Nag missile and specially designed carrier NAMICA on July 2 in the Mahajn desert firing range in Rajasthan. The induction of the land-based 'top attack and fire and forget' Nag missiles was supposed to have been done in 2011 but it was delayed with the Army seeking modifications in NAMICA. Each NAMICA can carry 12 missiles, eight of them in ready-to-fire mode. Nag ATGM with a Modified Launch System to be Tested In June

India will be putting to test the Nag anti-tank guided missile and its launch system NAMICA in the deserts of Rajasthan this June. According to Mr Avinash Chander, Chief Controller (Missiles & Strategic Systems), DRDO, the Nag missile, which has a range of four kilometres, would be tested for its full range, two kilometers and a minimum of 500 metres. India has successfully developed two crucial defence capabilities which signals its entry into an exclusive club of nations with such indigenous technology. DRDO Developing Helina Missile for Dhruv ALH

In a first of its kind, India is planning to develop an indigenous missile called HELINA which is to be deployed in the weaponized version of the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopoter (ALH). The state-owned Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) expects to be ready with this missile by 2013.
