Indian Navy is poised to complete the nuclear-weapon triad, ensuring that India's maritime and nuclear doctrines would then be aligned to ensure that its nuclear insurance comes from the sea, its chief Admiral Nirmal Verma has said, adding that the force also plans to operate at least two aircraft carriers at any given time, once its indigenous programme for such large warships is complete. Nukes Are Not For Fighting Wars, Indian Army Chief

Indian Army chief Gen. VK Singh has made it clear that nuclear weapons are not for fighting wars, but have strategic value. His remarks come in the backdrop of reports that both Pakistan and China are fast increasing their nuclear weapons stockpile. "Let's be quite clear on it... Nuclear weapons are not for war-fighting. They have got a strategic significance and that is where it should end," said Army chief General V K Singh on the occasion of 64th Army Day on Sunday.
