IAF to Complete Strategic Projects in Time

Following a rap by CAG for over a two-decade-delay in commissioning a forward airfield and not activating another for fighter aircraft use, the Defence Ministry has asked the Indian Air Force to take steps to ensure such strategic projects are completed in time. The CAG in its report on performance audit of Defence Services (2010-11) had questioned the "inordinate delay" in development of airbases. CAG and Parliamentary Committee Point at Delays in Crucial IAF and Infrastructure Projects

India’s accounting watchdog Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) as well as the Parliamentary Committee on Defence have once again exposed the chinks in the armour of the Armed Forces and Defence Ministry in its latest reports. While CAG has pointed out a two-decade-delay in commissioning a forward airfield of the IAF, the Parliamentary Committee has pointed out that only about 40 per cent progress has been achieved in the infrastructure and road projects along the border.
