India's Coastal Radar Chain By This Year-End

India's post-Mumbai 26/11 terror strike plans to have a chain of radar stations as part of its coastal security apparatus will be ready along the peninsular mainland by the end of 2012 and those in the island territories by 2013, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Director General Vice Admiral MP Muralidharan has said. IAF Procuring Surveillance Radars, Reconnaissance Equipment to Upgrade Airfields, Air Defence

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will soon be procuring Surveillance Radar Elements, Precision Approach Radars, UHF Ground-to-Air Radio sets and Commutated Automatic Direction Finder systems to upgrade the equipment at it airfields, the Indian Parliament was informed. Antony told the lower house in written replies to questions from Members of Parliament that the IAF's Modernisation of Air Field Infrastructure (MAFI) project is progressing to improve and modernise the navigational aids at all IAF airfields. ADE Gears up for Advanced Rustom-2 UAV as well as Solar Drones and Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles

After having successfully conducted the fifth flight of the home-made Rustom-I unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), India has revealed that another advanced UAV, Rustom-2, is being developed. The Rustom-2 will be designed and developed by Bangalore-based Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), a DRDO laboratory and will be comparable to top drones in the world. Indian Navy Issues RFI for the Acquisition of 3D Surveillance Radars

Indian Navy has issued a global Request for Information (RFI) for acquiring three dimensional radars (3D Radars) aimed at boosting the surveillance capability of naval warships. The 3D air surveillance radars will be fitted on warships above 3,000 tones which will facilitate 360 degree detection of hostile aircraft and choppers, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and sea-skimming missiles.
