Mahindra Establishes Two Defence Ventures with Us and Israeli Firms at Def-Expo 2012

At the recently concluded Def Expo India-2012, the 7th Land, Naval and Internal Security Systems Exhibition, private sector major Mahindra & Mahindra Limited has managed to initiate two joint ventures to cater the Indian defence sector. The first agreement has been to form a joint venture with Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and the other with Telephonics Corporation, subsidiary of the North America’s Griffon Corporation. IAF's Israeli-Supplied Aerostat Damaged, Non-Operational

India's Parliament was Wednesday informed that one of Indian Air Force's (IAF) Aerostats supplied by Israeli defence firm Rafael has been damaged and that it is non-operational. Defence Minister AK Antony, in reply to questions from members of parliament in Rajya Sabha (House of States) the two Aerostat were bought by India from Rafael in 2002 and these two radars were supplied to IAF in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Indian Army goes for Israeli Spike ATGM and Homemade NAG ATGM, Contemplates Javelin from U.S

The Indian Army is making major procurements of Anti Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM) from its own public sector and other nations as well. Apart from awarding Rafael from Israel a $ 1 billion worth of deal for Spike ATGM, Indian Army is also looking at Javelin ATGM from the U.S and will be acquiring Nag ATGM developed by state-run Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
