INS Vikramaditya's Brick Work Complete, Ready for Final Trials

After four months of work on INS Vikramditya, which reported a boiler malfunction, Russia has completed the brick-lining work and is getting ready to take the Indian Navy warship out for sea trials in the Barents by June this year. The Russian-built warship, the erstwhile Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier, will be ready to join the Indian Navy fleet as per the revised schedule of last quarter of 2013, senior Indian Navy officers said here. Indian Latest Missile, Agni-4, to Debut in Republic Day Parade

Indian defence researchers' latest success, Agni-4 nuclear-capable strategic missile, will make its debut for public display during this year's Republic Day parade down Rajpath on January 26, when President Pratibha Patil will take the salute from the nation's armed forces. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will be fielding the Agni-4 during this year's Republic Day parade, according to DRDO spokesperson Ravi Kumar Gupta. C-130j on Republic Day Parade Flypast for the First Time

Indian Air Force's (IAF) latest acquisition, the Lockheed Martin C-130J transport plane, will be part of the fly past over Rajpath for the first time ever during this year's Republic Day parade in New Delhi on January 26. Three C-130Js will be part of the IAF's 29 aircraft, including air superiority Sukhoi 30-MKI and MiG29 combat plane fly past, a senior IAF officer said here. All six of the C-130J that India bought from US has been delivered to the IAF in 2011. India to Buy 110 Microlite Planes For National Cadet Corps

India's National Cadets Corps (NCC), the country's official youth outfit for military training, is procuring 110 microlite aircraft to train its air wing cadets in flying techniques, apart from providing them with an adventure activity that will literally take them to the skies. These aircraft would be bought off-the-shelf. A Request for Proposal (RFP) for these planes was issued in May 2010 to global microlite manufacturers.
