DRDO Enhances Range Of Missiles, Seeks Hike in Funding to Execute Crucial Defence Projects

India’s indigenous missile technology is geared for further enhancements as Avinash Chander, Chief Controller ( Missiles and Strategic Systems) at DRDO indicated at a function in Hyderabad that DRDO is aiming to increase the range of air-to-surface missiles up to 400 km and air-to-air missiles up to 300 km besides developing a low-weight nano missile. Post MMRCA, French Firms Stand Tall in the Indian Defence Market

With the selection of the Dassault Aviation’s Rafale combat aircraft in the biggest defence deal worth roughly $ 11 billion for Indian Air force (IAF), the French firm Thales also stands to gain a substantial chunk of the deal. French firm Thales will stand to gain 25 percent of the value of the MMRCA contract since it will supply the active electronic array radar and onboard electronics. France Offers Help in Kaveri Engine and Co-Development of Short-Range Missile with India

India and France are on the road to greater defence ties as French Foreign Affairs Minister Alain Juppe visited India and held delegation-level talks with his Indian counterpart S.M.Krishna in New Delhi recently. While France discussed the issue of civil nuclear safety having been awarded a multi-billion nuclear power plant contract, both sides also discussed various military contracts as well as co-development of new defence products. France is also hoping to clinch the $ 10.4 billion MMRCA project whose winner will be announced next month. Read More...
