Defence Shipyards Unhappy Over Global Tenders for Small Boats

Upset with the Defence Ministry's decision to hold global tenders for small boats such as Fast Interception Craft and patrol boats, public sector shipyards have registered their protest with the Government. We are talking about building our indigenous defence industry but we are awarding contracts for even small boats after global tenders. Indian Navy Orders 80 Interceptor Boats for Sagar Prahari Bal

The Indian Navy has placed a Rs.300-crore order with a Sri Lankan shipyard for 80 fast interceptor boats to equip its Sagar Prahari Bal, a specialised force, for securing India's coastal assets. Indian Navy to Acquire 80 Interceptor Boats from Sri Lanka

The continual focus on coastal security has led to yet another potential acquisition by the Indian Navy, namely, fast interceptor boats from a Sri Lankan firm.
